About Dobcroft
Dobcroft Junior School is a larger than average school situated in the south west suburbs of Sheffield in a residential area close to Ecclesall Woods. Originally opened in 1972, the building has large outside spaces consisting of both playgrounds and a large field. Internally, the school has open-plan and flexible spaces allowing a varied approach to teaching and learning.
Many of our pupils come from socially advantaged areas with an above average proportion of pupils from minority ethnic groups. The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is average but a more than average number have statements of special educational need.
Graded Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in 2006, Dobcroft School strikes an excellent balance between striving for the highest academic standards and its commitment to every aspect of pupils' personal development. As a result, our pupils become well-rounded individuals, exceptionally well prepared for their future lives. They play a full part in the life of the school and wider community.
We are proud that our school holds very strong links with the community and pupils enjoy school enormously, because the huge variety of activities in and outside lessons are stimulating and fulfilling. Our fully supportive governors bring a wealth of relevant expertise and share the parents and staffs thigh expectations for pupils' achievement and personal development.
The school offers a vibrant and exciting curriculum and all pupils have opportunities to learn French, Spanish and German. The pupils' love of our school is reflected in their above average attendance. Their very positive attitudes, outstanding achievement in English and mathematics, and
excellent personal development mean that pupils are very well prepared to secure their future well-being.
